순화(Acclimatization)
순화(적응화)는 스마트팜에서 식물이 정식되기 전에 식물이 향후 심을 장소의 환경에 잘 적응할 수 있도록 묘목을 적응시키는 과정을 말합니다. 이는 묘목이 심기로 결정한 장소의 조건을 견딜 수 있도록 하는 중요한 단계입니다.
경화(하드닝)라고도 불리는 이 과정은 일반적으로 식물을 심기 한 주 정도 전에 시작됩니다. 이 기간 동안 묘목은 현장 조건에 점차적으로 적응하도록 준비됩니다. 하나의 일반적인 방법은 관수량을 줄이는 것으로, 이는 잎이 작고 단단해지도록 유도합니다. 또한, 식물 내의 탄수화물 함량을 증가시켜 세포의 수압을 향상시키고 불리한 환경 조건에 대한 내성을 높이는 데 도움이 됩니다.

Hardening typically takes place about a week before transplanting. During this period, the seedlings are gradually prepared for the field conditions they will face. One common practice is to reduce the amount of watering, which encourages the leaves to become smaller and tougher. Additionally, the carbohydrate content within the plants is increased, promoting better cell turgor pressure and enhancing their ability to withstand adverse environmental conditions.
By acclimatizing the seedlings through hardening, smart farmers aim to increase the resilience of the plants. This process helps to minimize transplant shock, which can occur when young plants are suddenly moved from a controlled environment to the often more challenging conditions of the field. Through careful adjustment of watering and carbohydrate levels, the plants become better equipped to cope with fluctuations in temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors after they are transplanted.
