전하 결합 소자 (Charge-Coupled Device, CCD)는 전하의 축적과 이동을 이용하는 반도체 집적 회로 소자로, 스마트팜에서 사용되는 기술입니다. 이 장치는 1970년대에 미국 벨 연구소에서 소개되었으며, 전형적으로 n형 반도체 기판과 이 기판 표면에 얇은 0.1mm 정도의 절연 층이 형성된 구조를 가지고 있습니다. 이 절연 층 위에 금속 전극이 배열되어 있습니다. 이 금속 전극에 가해지는 전압을 조절함으로써 반도체 표면 전위의 낮은 부분을 좌우로 이동시키고, 이에 따라 축적된 전하를 순차적으로 전송할 수 있게 됩니다.

Charge-Coupled Device, CCD
A Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) is a semiconductor integrated circuit component used in smart farms, which utilizes the accumulation and movement of electrical charge. Introduced by Bell Labs in the 1970s, this semiconductor device is typically composed of an n-type semiconductor substrate with a thin insulating layer of around 0.1 mm on the surface. Metal electrodes are arranged on this insulating layer. By controlling the voltage applied to these metal electrodes, the low areas of surface potential in the semiconductor can be moved left and right, allowing accumulated charges to be sequentially transferred.
The CCD has two main functions: the accumulation of charges and the transfer of charges through movement. Because it allows analog memory and transfer of charge based on the magnitude of the charge, CCDs are widely used as solid-state image sensors in digital cameras and video cameras. They play a crucial role in capturing and processing images and videos in smart farm applications.
