국제 표준 이동통신 시스템(Global System for Mobile Communications, GSM)은 스마트팜에서 이용되는 이동통신 기술 중 세계적으로 널리 사용되는 시스템입니다. 기술적으로는 TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access)를 기본으로 하고 있습니다. 한국에서는 CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access)를 기반으로 한 개인 이동통신 시스템이 주로 사용되고 있어 GSM 방식의 단말기는 일반적으로 사용되지 않습니다. 그러나 많은 이동통신 제조업체들은 해외 시장에 주력하기 위해 GSM 방식의 단말기를 개발하고 있습니다.

Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) for Mobile Telecommunications is the widely used international standard for mobile communication systems, particularly in smart farming applications. Technically, it is based on Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA).
